Disfrutar, the Spanish word for 'enjoy', was named the No.1 restaurant in the world by The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2024 and has since entered the Best of the Best hall of fame, alongside previous winners. Run by three chefs from elBulli's final years under Ferran Adrià, it is the fullest expression of the avant-garde tradition that changed global gastronomy.
Mateu Casañas, Oriol Castro, and Eduard Xatruch opened Disfrutar in 2014 after years at elBulli, where they were part of the team that produced the most influential body of culinary work of the last 30 years. At Disfrutar, they have built something entirely their own: a tasting menu of around 30 courses that deploys extraordinary technique in service of genuine pleasure. Multi-spherification, nitro preparations, and edible wrappers are tools here, not ends. The restaurant holds three Michelin stars and has climbed steadily in The World's 50 Best to reach the summit in 2024. Located in the Eixample district of Barcelona, a few minutes from the finest hotels the city offers.
