Martín Berasategui · Lasarte-Oria, Spain
Loidi Kalea, 4, Lasarte-Oria, Basque Country
Martín Berasategui holds more Michelin stars than any other chef in Spain, twelve across his various restaurants worldwide. The flagship in Lasarte-Oria has held three stars continuously since 2001. It is one of the most technically accomplished expressions of Basque haute cuisine in the world.
Martín Berasategui began his career in his parents' pastry shop in San Sebastián and opened his flagship restaurant in Lasarte-Oria in 1993. He earned three Michelin stars by 2001 and has held them every year since, over two decades of consistency that places him among the most decorated chefs in the world. The restaurant's tasting menu draws on the extraordinary produce of the Basque Country: seafood from the Bay of Biscay, vegetables from the valley, wild mushrooms from the hills, prepared with a technical rigour that has made Berasategui one of the most influential chefs of his generation. Lasarte-Oria is fifteen minutes by road from San Sebastián, accessible from the city's luxury hotels.
